Emergency Preparedness - Spanish

Overview

While 79% of Hispanic Americans believe preparedness is a very important issue, only 42% of Hispanic households have taken any steps at all to prepare.

The Ready campaign launched a complete Spanish-language component, Listo, in December 2003 which includes Spanish-language PSAs for all media types, its own website, and an information hotline, 1-888-SE-LISTO.

The Listo campaign is targeted to Hispanic Americans, but promotes the same three key actions to prepare for an emergency: 1) get an emergency supply kit, 2) make a family emergency plan, and 3) be informed about the different types of emergencies that could occur and appropriate responses to them. The newest creative phase of Listo, which launched in September 2010, promotes the idea that preparation today will help reduce the consequences of a disaster tomorrow.
