As Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month nears a close, the Ad Council is looking forward to ending it on a high note this Thursday at Hispanicize’s #UnidosTogether Virtual Summit, the largest virtual gathering of Latinx influencers, content creators, entrepreneurs and advertising industry leaders. Speakers at this Thursday’s event range from figures like Aaron Walton (CEO, Walton Isaacson) and Victor Ramos (LATV host and lifestyle guru) to Bamby Salcedo (Founder, Translatin@ Coalition) and Julissa Calderon (actress, writer and producer). The summit takes place Thursday, October 15, from noon to 5pm, EST, and registration is free. Here are three conversations you shouldn’t miss!
You can register for the free event, taking place Thursday (10/15) from 12-5pm ET here.
Latinx Unity & Empowerment – 1:15pm ET
The power of the collective is real. This conversation among a mix of Latinx leaders, including activists, celebrities and entrepreneurs, will identify key opportunities for Latinx community unity, as well as major hurdles to Latinx empowerment and advancement.
The intersection of Black and Latinx identity is rarely represented (or largely misunderstood) in mainstream media and advertising. This discussion will break down what it means to be Afro-Latinx in the U.S. today, particularly amid coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement. It’ll also include conversation around intersectionality generally, and the challenges and nuances of navigating the world while straddling cultures and identities.
With less than a month until the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, this conversation couldn’t be timelier. Latinx community leaders, activists and journalists will gather virtually to discuss the power of the Latinx vote not only in this year’s election, but in decades to come.
