We are thrilled to introduce the Ad Council’s new Champions for Good series where we spotlight industry individuals for their continued commitment to social good and how they serve as champions for Ad Council campaigns. Our first Champion for Good is Carola Chaurero, New Business Director of Alma. We sat down with her in our New York offices to talk about her involvement with the Ad Council and learn more about what makes Carola...Carola!
Ad Council: Smokey Bear or McGruff?
Carola Chaurero : Smokey Bear. I grew up watching him in the early 70s.
AC: What’s on your desktop home screen?
CC: A photo of my heart dog, Socrates Eugenio, aka Pocho.
AC: Android or iPhone?
AC: Favorite social platform?
CC: While I share a lot on Facebook, I prefer Instagram.
AC: Favorite social good ad campaign?
CC: Ad Council & AARP’s Caregiving Campaign, of course! It still makes me teary.
AC: In a nutshell, what’s your job/what do you do?
CC: I’m the New Business Director at Alma. But when a pro-bono project comes in, I usually get assigned to manage it from an Account Services prospective.
AC: How do you think advertising can be a force for good?
CC: If advertising can help sell products, most definitely it can help create awareness of any cause that affects us on a personal level, and bring a community together to create change. I believe that strategically managed social media can be a powerful tool to amplify support for the causes we care for.
AC: What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever been given
CC: Learn the processes well so you can anticipate anything that could go wrong.
AC: Who’s been your greatest influence?
CC: Without a doubt my mom.
AC: What have you gotten out of working with the Ad Council?
CC: A great example of what teamwork is all about when you bring two agencies together working towards one client’s goals. #truecollaboration
Thanks for being a #ChampionForGood Carola!
