A Moving Message for a Life-Saving Habit

How autonomous robots brought the Heatstroke Prevention campaign directly into high-traffic Miami neighborhoods.

The Challenge

Heatstroke deaths in vehicles are preventable, but the risk can feel distant until temperatures rise. The Ad Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration needed a timely way to place the “Stop. Look. Lock.” reminder in front of parents and caregivers as hot-weather season began.

The Idea

Turn an emerging delivery platform into mobile public service media. By using Robot.com’s R-ads network, the campaign could move through crowded public spaces, meet audiences where they were, and measure exposure based on the robots’ actual routes.

The Activation

On National Heatstroke Prevention Day, a fleet of 10 autonomous robots began carrying the campaign across Brickell and Bayside. The 16-day activation ran six hours per day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and covered 191.55 miles of unique routes. The flight also overlapped with Miami’s major motorsport weekend, creating an opportunity to reach dense pedestrian traffic at a moment when the prevention message was especially relevant.

The campaign ran entirely through the robots’ integrated digital displays. The screen-only execution demonstrated that the platform could deliver meaningful scale without relying on exterior branding.

Results

Every reported impression reflected location-based exposure validated by Robot.com’s measurement partner, Unacast. GPS coordinates transmitted by each robot created a record of where the fleet traveled and supported analysis of surrounding audiences.

Robot.com’s R-ads launch announcement extended the partnership beyond the street, generating coverage across advertising, out-of-home, robotics, and marketing-technology trade media. The coverage represented approximately 80,000 earned unique visitors per month.

Billboards build reach. Robots build interaction. Put them on the same platform, and every impression becomes a result a brand can measure.

PARTNERSHIP ELEMENTS

  • 10 autonomous robots deployed in Brickell and Bayside
  • 16-day flight with six operating hours per day
  • Creative delivered through integrated digital displays
  • GPS-based measurement and validated impressions
  • Coordinated public relations support and trade coverage

WHY IT MATTERED

The partnership showed how an emerging mobility platform can become measurable public service media. The robots helped the campaign stand out in busy environments, while route-based measurement gave the Ad Council a clearer view of real-world exposure.

It also created a repeatable model for future activations: pair a culturally relevant moment with a visible platform, define testing and legal checkpoints early, and align on how every in-market element will be reviewed before launch.
