Drug overdose deaths reached the highest number ever recorded in a 12-month period in 2021. The rise is being fueled by the prevalence of synthetic opioids, like fentanyl, which were involved in an estimated 66% of overdose deaths during this time period. The advertising community has joined forces with leading public health organizations to address youth fentanyl awareness and substance use disorders in the fight against this national emergency.
